Laura Coffman

 

 

 

 

Laura was born in Houston, and moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1977, and began working in the citrus industry in 1983. She has been active in growing and shipping citrus, owns her own company, Precision Orchard Services, and has served on the boards of Texas Citrus Mutual, Texas Citrus Producers Board, the Texas Valley Citrus Committee.

Jimmie Steidinger

 

 

 

 

Jimmie was born in Oklahoma, but at age 3 the family moved to Donna, Texas, where his father was starting a dairy business. He father died tragically in a farming accident when he was just 12, and he then helped his mother continue the family farm. He began growing cotton and grain on leased land, and later expanded into vegetables and citrus. His passion for citrus led him into serving on and chairing numerous boards and committees, including the Texas Citrus Producers Board, Edinburg Citrus Association and the Citrus Center Advisory Committee. He joined this committee in 1996, and served two terms in the chair. Even though he and his wife Barbara have sold their citrus orchards, and have kept their home in Donna, they spend most of their time on their JIMBAR Ranch in the Texas Hill Country.

Dennis Holbrook, Vice Chair

 

 

 

 

Dennis Holbrook grew up in a citrus and row crop farming family in the Valley. After returning from Texas A & I University, he joined the family business, and then in 1977 he purchased the family citrus operation from his father. He soon became concerned about conventional farming and the possible effects it may have on human health and the environment. He established South Tex Organics in 1984 and has served on several farming bodies including the Texas Organic Growers Association, Texas Citrus Mutual and TexaSweet. Dennis is married with four grown, married children. He and his wife, Lynda, reside in Mission, Texas.

Jud Flowers

 

 

 

 

After nearly 20 years as General Manager of Healds Valley Farms in Edinburg, Jud formed his own family-based citrus operation, Lone Star Citrus Growers in 2007, which is based in Mission. He has served on several boards, including Texas Citrus Mutual and Texas Citrus Producers Board and became a member of the Citrus Center Advisory Committee in 2000.
